Stay Connected: You Were Never Meant to Grow Alone

Dr. GreGory Wendell reminded us through the sermon “I Am The Branch” that spiritual strength does not come from trying harder by ourselves. It comes from staying connected to Jesus.
Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches.” That picture is simple, but powerful. A branch cannot survive on its own. It cannot produce fruit by remembering the vine, visiting the vine occasionally, or standing near the vine. It only lives because it stays attached.
That is a word for everyday life.
Sometimes we want peace without staying close to the Prince of Peace. We want strength without surrender. We want answers without prayer. We want fruit without connection. But Dr. GreGory reminded us that fruit is not something we force. Fruit is the natural evidence of a healthy connection with God.
And when we feel dry, weak, frustrated, or spiritually distant, the answer is not to panic. The answer is to reconnect.
God is not looking for occasional visits. He wants our Monday, our Tuesday, our phone, our thoughts, our decisions, and even the late-night places of our lives that nobody else sees. He wants all of us because He loves all of us.
The message also reminded us that pruning is part of growth. God does not only deal with dead branches. He also prunes fruitful ones. That means every rough season is not an attack. Sometimes God is removing distractions, cutting unhealthy attachments, trimming pride, and preparing us to carry more fruit.
Correction does not mean rejection. Pruning does not mean abandonment. Dryness does not mean it is over.
There is still hope to hold.
As long as there is repentance, there is still invitation. The Vine is still calling the branch back into connection.
