When Regret Meets Grace

Dr. GreGory Wendell’s message, The Prodigal Son 2.0, reminded us that some of the heaviest things we carry are not always visible.

Sometimes it is a conversation we wish had gone differently.

A phone call we never made. An apology we waited too long to give. A hug we wish we had offered. Words we replay in our minds every holiday, birthday, or quiet moment.

The prodigal son believed he had time. Time to live life his own way. Time to return when he was ready. Time to make things right later.

But this message asked a tender question: What happens when the son finally comes home, and the father is no longer there?

For some, that question touches a real place in the heart. There are people we cannot call anymore. Relationships we cannot revisit in the natural. Moments that feel sealed by distance, loss, regret, or death.

But God can bring peace to places we cannot physically return to. And sometimes, He may bring that peace in ways we never expected. Dr. GreGory reminded us that God is not limited by time, distance, or even the boundaries we cannot cross in the natural. He may comfort your heart through prayer, a memory, a moment of release, or even a dream that allows you to finally say what your heart has been carrying.

God is not limited by the conversations we missed or the words we wish we could take back. He invites us to bring every unfinished place to Him. We can tell Him the truth about what hurts. We can confess what we wish we had done differently. We can release the guilt, the anger, the questions, and the grief we have been carrying alone.

God is able to set your heart free. You may not be able to go back and rewrite the conversation, but you can let God write healing into the rest of your story.
