What Is Your Hunger Leading You to Choose?

In the sermon “I’m Alive,” Dr. GreGory Wendell reminded us that hunger for God eventually leads us to make a choice.

It is a message that follows us into ordinary moments: an uncomfortable conversation, a crowded schedule, or a decision nobody else will know about.

We may want to grow closer to God, but what happens when growth asks something of us? When we need to admit we were wrong? Tell the whole truth? Give prayer the time we had planned to spend scrolling?

Those moments give our hunger somewhere to go. Each one becomes an opportunity to put our faith into practice—to let what we believe shape how we respond.

Righteousness reaches into our motives, our relationships, and our private lives. It influences how we treat someone who cannot do anything for us, how we handle disappointment, and what we choose when the easier option would pull us away from God.

As we draw closer to Him, we begin to reconsider what deserves our time and what we are willing to release. Even correction can become nourishment when our hearts are open to Him. We can pause before defending ourselves and ask, “Lord, what can I learn here?”

That willingness to grow is a sign of life. There is still a desire to hear His voice, follow His direction, and become more like Him. And as that faith becomes visible through kindness, honesty, and forgiveness, someone around us may find encouragement for their own walk.

Jesus promised, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

Today, begin with one willing response: “Lord, show me what needs to change in me—and help me follow through.” Then take one practical step, trusting Him to help you grow.

Where is your hunger for God inviting you to grow this week?
