Faith That Doesn’t Have to Fight

This week, Dr. GreGory Wendell shared a powerful revelation that shifts how we understand spiritual warfare, identity, and purpose. While resting by the water, God spoke to him about light—how it doesn’t argue with darkness or try to expose it. Light simply is, and darkness retreats as a result.
God never spoke to darkness in Genesis. He spoke to light. Separation happened because light existed—not because darkness was confronted. That same truth applies to us today. As believers, we aren’t called to chase darkness, defend ourselves endlessly, or relive what once hurt us. We are called to arrive as light.
Pastor reminded us that identity precedes impact. When we know who we are, we don’t have to try harder, we simply function from design. He illustrated this through the difference between a pelican and a seagull. One is engineered to harvest. The other survives by adapting. Both live, but only one operates from purpose.
When identity is settled, effort turns into flow. Healing makes space. Peace walks in before explanations are given. Light doesn’t negotiate with who you used to be—it replaces it.
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” Not someday. Not after improvement. Now.
So the question isn’t what darkness you’re fighting, but whether you’ve fully arrived as who God called you to be.
