Be Still, God Is Working

Dr. GreGory Wendell reminded us that faith does not always mean having all the answers. Sometimes faith sounds like Jehoshaphat’s honest prayer: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”

That is an important truth for everyday life. There will be moments when we do not know how to fix the relationship, handle the financial pressure, make the right decision, or quiet the thoughts racing through our minds. Our instinct may be to make another phone call, force an answer, or keep replaying the situation until we feel exhausted.

But God does not ask us to carry every battle. He asks us to keep our eyes on Him.

Jehoshaphat did not begin his prayer by describing how powerful the enemy was. He began by declaring how powerful God is. He remembered what God had already done and what God had promised. Then, after praying, the people stood still and waited for direction.

Standing still did not mean doing nothing. God told them to go out, take their position, and watch Him work. They still had to show up, but they did not have to fight the battle in their own strength.

The same is true for us. We may need to attend the meeting, have the conversation, complete the application, or walk into the room. But we do not have to manipulate the outcome. We can obey God, take our position, and trust Him with what happens next.

When Judah began to praise, God began to move. They entered the situation expecting a battle, but they came out with victory, increase, joy, and peace on every side.

What battle do you need to stop carrying and place back into God’s hands?
