Are You Giving Up Too Soon?

Before you give up on what God promised, look again.

Sometimes life does not look like it is blooming. It looks delayed. It looks dry. It looks disappointing. It may even look like something God started has stopped breathing.

But in Sunday’s message, Dr. GreGory Wendell reminded us that what we see right now is not always the full picture of what God is doing.

A bud does not look like a full flower yet, but it carries proof that something is still growing. And sometimes, that is exactly how God works in our lives. He develops things quietly, protects what is not ready to be revealed, and reminds us that our current condition is not the conclusion.

A bud may not look like much at first, but it carries the promise of future growth. It is not the seed anymore, and it is not the full flower yet. It is somewhere in between. And for many of us, that is exactly where we are. We are in between what God started and what He is getting ready to reveal.

That is why we cannot let our current condition speak louder than God’s promise. Aaron’s rod was not planted in good soil. It did not have rain, roots, or perfect conditions. It was a dry stick, yet God caused it to bud, bloom, and produce fruit. That means God is not limited by what looks impossible around us.

The sermon also reminded us not to bury what God has called us to believe for. The Shunammite woman could have accepted death as the final answer, but instead she picked up what looked dead and carried it back to the place of promise. Her faith said, “This cannot be over.”

This week, we are invited to look again at the places we almost gave up on. The dream. The prayer. The healing. The calling. The family matter. The next step. The thing that looks delayed but may simply be concealed until the right time.

The waiting was not wasted. God has been building something in you. And if there is still a bud, then there is still a future.

Where do you need to believe again that God is not finished yet?
