After Communion: Walking in What We Received

Communion Sunday wasn’t followed by a traditional sermon, but somehow, the message still came through—loud, clear, and powerfully felt. From the first song to the final Amen, God ministered to our hearts through praise, worship, and presence. And now, as the music fades and the bread and cup are put away, we’re left with a question: How to I continue in communion?

Being in communion with God is not a moment—it’s a movement. It’s not just taking in the symbols of His sacrifice, but walking in the power of what that sacrifice made possible. As we sang, shouted, and worshiped, there was a constant refrain: “I got power.” Not power we earn. Not power we manufacture. But the same power that raised Jesus from the grave is now alive in us.

“You shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you...” – Acts 1:8

After communion, we carry that power out into our lives. We walk differently. We speak life. We forgive boldly. We love in spite of. We hold our heads high, not in pride, but in purpose—because we’ve been reminded of who we are and whose we are.

Communion reminds us that Jesus didn’t just die for us—He lives in us.

So what do we do after communion?

  • We take authority over sickness, doubt, and fear.

  • We pray with greater expectation.

  • We praise with deeper gratitude.

  • We let go of shame, because He already bore it.

  • We believe again. Hope again. Live again.

In one moment of reflection, one sip, one bite, we were reminded of the cross—but also of the resurrection. And as our Pastor Dr. GreGory said during the service, “If God has it for me, can’t nobody take it away.”

This week, let’s walk in that boldness. Not just remembering communion, but remaining in communion.
