About the Recipe
Ingredients
4 med. yams 1 can regular milk (or Carnation
3 cups sugar Canned Milk)
2 sticks butter 2 T. Baking Powder (Clabber Girl
2 - 3 T vanilla flavor (to taste) only
2 T. flour 3 Pie Crust already in the foil
6 - 8 eggs pan ( regular or deep dish)
3 tsps nutmeg (or as your
taste desires
Wash yams and dry them off. Oil yams and put them in a pan and bake until
done at 350°. After yams are done,, peel skin off with a fork while they are still
hot. Put yams in a bowl, add butter then let them sit to cool off. Mix all ingredients
together until potatoes are smooth. Remove all lumps and strings. Pour filling
into a 9 1/2 inch pie crust. Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Set timer on your oven (cook
time will depend on how fast your oven cooks). When pie is golden brown it is
readyj to be taken out of the oven. Serve with Cool Whip if desired. This
should make about 3-5 pies depending on whether regular or deep dish pie shells are
used. Enjoy!
