About the Recipe


4 to 6 bunchees of collard greens 2 T garlic powder

Meat (smoked turkey leg, ham 1/2 onion

hock or salt pork) 1/4 cup sugar

1 mild pepper (optional) 3 T bacon grease or cooking oil

1 to 2 boxes of liquid beef broth (cook bacon and use only the grease)

(substitute water and beef cubes

if desired)

A pinch of season salt or no salt

Boil meat of choice for 1 to 1 1/2 hour with

liquid beef broth. Wash greens about 5 times in the sink or in a large

bowl until you no longer see dirt in the sink/bowl. Add collard greens,

seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder. onion, sugar and bacon grease

(or cooking oil). Cook for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until greens are tender. Let

greens cool for about 30 minutes before serving,
